Overview
Registered in 2003 by S. Tylinski, *Hosta* 'Zippy Zepps' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Regal Splendor' distinguished by its blue-green leaves with gold margins and unstable streaks of golden yellow. The ovate, slightly shiny leaves have a lightly wavy margin and rounded base, with 10 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43.2 cm) tall, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its medium size suits mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. The green scapes reach 30 to 31 inches (76.2 to 78.7 cm) in height.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, especially in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
