Overview
Registered in 2002 by J. Wilkins, this medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Maize and Blue' is visually defined by its blue-green leaves with sharply contrasting creamy white margins. The leaf surface is notably very shiny on top with a glaucous bloom beneath, and the margins are slightly rippled.
In the Garden
'Hosta' forms a mound-like clump reaching 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary, as with most hostas.
