Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Wilson' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, derived from *H. 'Christmas Tree Gala'* as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its medium blue-green leaves with narrow, creamy white margins and a slightly rippled edge, combined with a fast growth rate and good leaf substance.
In the Garden
'Hosta' Wilson forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It is best suited to partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, where its variegated foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its small size makes it appropriate for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture.
Care Notes
Plant in well-drained, organically rich soil and water regularly during dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through physical barriers or repellents as needed.
