Overview

Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Wilson Lake' is a large, mound-forming cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its nearly round, blue-green leaves with a heavy glaucous bloom on both surfaces. The leaves are moderately cupped and corrugated, with medium blue-green margins and 13 to 15 vein pairs.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature spread of 32 inches (81.3 cm) and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), forming a dense, symmetrical mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue foliage holds color well, and pairs effectively with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large leaf size and good substance make it a suitable specimen for woodland borders or shaded foundation plantings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it may be susceptible to slug damage; typical hosta-growing zones apply.
