Overview

Registered in 2002 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Striptease', 'White Bikini' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its clean white leaf centers framed by dark green, slightly rippled margins. The leaves emerge pure white in spring, a trait retained through the growing season, and the plant forms a dense, fountain-like mound.

In the Garden

'White Bikini' reaches 27 inches (68.6 cm) in height and 44 inches (111.8 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white centers remain crisp and do not scorch. The white scapes, rising 18 to 24 inches (45.7 to 61.0 cm), carry pale flowers and complement the foliage. This cultivar pairs well with dark-leaved heucheras or ferns in woodland borders and is suitable for containers given its compact, mound-forming habit.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly in damp conditions.
