Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Wedding Band' is a miniature sport distinguished by its blue-green leaves edged with narrow, yellow margins. The foliage is elliptic with a rounded base, dull on the upper surface and bearing a glaucous bloom beneath, with three to five vein pairs per leaf.

In the Garden

'Wedding Band' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, making it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs effectively with other small hostas, ferns, or woodland perennials such as heuchera and tiarella. Its miniature stature also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Wedding Band' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
