Overview
Registered in 1993, 'Tucker Charm' is a small hosta cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Pearl Lake' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Herifu' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its dark green, slightly rippled leaf margins combined with a very shiny upper surface and dull underside, borne on a compact mound.
In the Garden
This small hosta reaches a mature diameter of 25 inches (63.5 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), forming a dense, rounded clump. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its glossy foliage contrasts well with finer-textured companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
