Overview

Registered in 1997, *Hosta* 'Tracy's Emerald Cup' is a large, fast-growing cultivar resulting from a hybrid cross of *H. 'Francee'*. It is visually distinctive for its dark green, very shiny leaves with flat margins, cordate bases, and prominent veining, forming a dense, rhizomatous clump.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature size of approximately 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height, with scapes rising 16 to 21 inches (40.6 to 53.3 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a groundcover in larger areas. Its large, glossy leaves provide textural contrast when paired with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, protect from deer and monitor for slug damage, particularly in damp conditions.
