Overview
Registered in 2015 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Midas Touch', 'Touch of Green' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its nearly round, deeply cupped, and intensely corrugated leaves with dark green margins and a slightly shiny upper surface. The leaf blade is 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and wide, with 17 pairs of veins, a cordate base, and a dull underside, while the plant forms an upright mound reaching 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
'Touch of Green' performs best in partial to full shade, where its deeply textured foliage provides visual interest throughout the growing season. Its medium stature and upright habit make it suitable for mid-border positions, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant among ferns and shade-tolerant perennials. The green scapes, 20 to 23 inches (50.8 to 58.4 cm) tall, bear flowers typical of the genus, though the primary ornamental value lies in the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and employ barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
