Overview

Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, this miniature cultivar resulted from crossing *Hosta* 'Blue Cadet' (pod parent) with *Hosta venusta* (pollen parent). 'Tot Tot' forms a compact mound of blue-green foliage with distinctive blue leaf margins, reaching only 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) in height and 4 inches (10.2 cm) in diameter. Its leaves measure 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) long by 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) wide, with eight pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'Tot Tot' is well-suited to shaded or partially shaded positions in the garden, where its diminutive size makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a border. Mature plants form a dense, rounded clump approximately 4 inches across and 2.5 inches tall. This miniature hosta pairs naturally with other small woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*, and performs admirably in containers where its compact habit can be appreciated at close range.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in containers. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Tot Tot' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its small size may offer some protection in sheltered locations.
