Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Mountain Snow', 'Tomo Yuki' was registered by the American Hosta Society in 2005. This large cultivar is distinguished by its stable, wide pure white margins on medium to dark green leaves, creating a bold variegated effect that is more pronounced than its parent.
In the Garden
'Tomo Yuki' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain crisp and the green centers hold their color. The substantial 12-inch (30.5 cm) long, 8-inch (20.3 cm) wide leaves with 10 to 12 vein pairs make this cultivar suitable as a specimen or as a focal point in mixed shade borders.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Tomo Yuki' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
