Overview
Registered in 2015 from unknown parentage, 'To the Point' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its nearly round, cupped leaves with a pronounced point at the tip. The variegated foliage features medium green, slightly rippled margins with a slightly shiny upper surface and dull underside, supported by eight pairs of veins on leaves measuring 6.75 inches long and 6 inches wide.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 14 inches in height and 20 inches in diameter, suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its compact size and distinctive leaf shape make it an effective specimen for border fronts, rock gardens, or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees, pairing well with ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials. The green scapes, reaching up to 27 inches in height, support lavender flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
