Overview

Registered in 2001 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Frances Williams', 'Time Tunnel' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its deeply corrugated, broadly ovate leaves with medium green centers and wide, golden yellow margins. The leaf margins measure 2 to 2.5 inches (5.1 to 6.4 cm) across and are slightly rippled, while the leaf surface is slightly shiny above and below.

In the Garden

'Time Tunnel' forms a mound-like clump reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins maintain their color without scorching. The cupped, heavily textured leaves provide contrast alongside finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Time Tunnel' is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protection in areas where these pests are prevalent.
