Overview

Registered in 1989 by P. Banyai, 'Tiddlywinks' is a miniature hosta distinguished by its medium green leaves with creamy white, slightly irregular margins. The leaf blades are lanceolate, measuring 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) long and 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) wide, with three vein pairs, and the margins are approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide.

In the Garden

'Tiddlywinks' forms a compact mound reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of a border. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for variegated hostas, and pairs well with other miniature perennials such as small ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella*. Its diminutive size also makes it an excellent candidate for trough gardens or fairy gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so appropriate deterrents should be considered in areas where these pests are prevalent.
