Overview

Registered in 2015 by J. Mullin and J. Schwarz, *Hosta* 'Thriller' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its blue-green leaves with variable chartreuse to yellow margins. The broadly ovate leaves are moderately cupped and corrugated, with a twisted tip and a slightly shiny upper surface, reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide with 12 vein pairs.

In the Garden

'Thriller' forms a clump 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 15 inches (38.1 cm) tall, with a slightly upright habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers contrast with the gold margins. The medium size suits it for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shade gardens, paired with ferns or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for this cultivar in typical hosta-growing zones.
