Overview

Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Terra Marie' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Stitchery'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Spritzer'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its lance-shaped, very shiny green leaves with golden yellow, slightly rippled margins, which emerge a bright golden yellow in spring before maturing to green.

In the Garden

*Hosta* 'Terra Marie' forms a low, mound-like clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones. Its small size and glossy foliage make it an effective companion for ferns, heucheras, or other small woodland perennials, and it performs well in containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage and should be managed with appropriate controls.
