Overview
Registered in 2003 as a sport of a streaked seedling of *Hosta* 'Lochness', 'Terminator' is a large, upright cultivar notable for its nearly round, deeply cupped and corrugated leaves. The foliage is medium blue-green with unstable streaking in light green, medium green, dark green, and greenish yellow, and is edged with slightly rippled gold margins; the leaf undersides display a glaucous bloom and a white back.
In the Garden
Reaching 25 inches (63.5 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, 'Terminator' forms a substantial, upright clump suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its bold texture and variegation pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials; the large size makes it a strong specimen or background plant rather than a container subject.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, especially in warmer climates, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through routine controls.
