Overview

Registered in 1992 by P. Ruh, this small-sized cultivar resulted from crossing *Hosta* 'Tardiflora' (pod parent) with *Hosta ventricosa* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its variegated foliage: dark green leaf margins frame a lighter center, with a satiny sheen on the upper surface and a glossy underside.

In the Garden

Reaching approximately 11.5 inches (29.2 cm) in diameter and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height, this compact hosta is well suited for shaded borders, rock gardens, or woodland settings. Its small stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its variegated leaves.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may feed on the foliage; monitor regularly and employ barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
