Overview
Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Tara' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage (pollen parent) derived from *H. 'Sea Prize'* as the pod parent. It is visually distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad, creamy white margins and a slightly rippled leaf edge.
In the Garden
'Tara' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds. Its medium size makes it appropriate for mixed perennial plantings, where it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Tara' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
