Overview
Registered in 1991 by R. O'Harra, this small hosta was produced from self-pollinated *Hosta ventricosa* 'Aureomarginata'. 'Taffeta' is distinguished by its narrow, lanceolate leaves with deep green margins and a glossy upper surface, which gives the foliage a lustrous appearance.
In the Garden
'Taffeta' forms a compact mound 10 inches (25.4 cm) tall and 18 inches (45.7 cm) wide, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its glossy leaves contrast well with finer-textured companions such as ferns, *Heuchera*, or small sedges. Its small size also suits trough gardens or shaded patio pots.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry spells. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage and apply controls as needed. Typical hosta-growing zones apply.
