Section classII-3

Overview

Registered in 2000, this large hosta cultivar was produced from a cross between *H.* 'Sweet Susan' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa' (pollen parent). 'Sunny Delight' is distinguished by its green leaf centers with broad, golden yellow margins, a color pattern inherited from its aureonebulosa parentage.

In the Garden

'Sunny Delight' reaches a mature size of 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with an upright, moderately growing habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its gold margins remain most vivid, and is suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. Its substantial leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate controls in typical hosta-growing zones.
