Registered in 1974 by P. Aden, this medium-sized hosta cultivar is a self-pollinated selection from *Hosta* 'Aspen Gold'. It is visually distinguished by its green leaves with yellow margins, a combination that provides a clear, bicolor effect throughout the growing season.

In the Garden

'Hosta 'Sun Glow' reaches a mature diameter of 22 inches (55.9 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a groundcover in partial to full shade. Its cordate leaves, 7 inches (17.8 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide with 11 vein pairs, pair well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials. The plant is not typically recommended for container culture due to its medium size.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
