A sport of *Hosta* 'Shade Master', 'Summer Music' was registered in 1998 and is classified as a medium-sized cultivar. Its most distinctive feature is the reversal of typical hosta variegation: a white leaf center is bordered by a dark green, flat margin, creating a bold, inverted pattern.

'Summer Music' reaches a mature diameter of 21 inches (53.3 cm) and a height of 14 inches (35.6 cm), with an upright, moderate growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where the white leaf centers remain stable without scorching. Its compact, mounded form suits the front of borders, woodland edges, or shaded containers; companion plants with fine-textured foliage, such as ferns or *Heuchera*, provide contrast.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so appropriate controls should be considered in areas where these pests are prevalent.
