Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Twist and Shout' registered in 2012, 'Streaking Sandy' is a small, upright cultivar distinguished by its very shiny, lance-shaped leaves with streaked yellow, green, and white margins. The plant produces green scapes reaching 20 to 24 inches (50.8–61.0 cm) in height, with notably long, narrow leaves measuring 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) in length and only 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in width.

In the Garden

'Streaking Sandy' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) and a height of 9 inches (22.9 cm), with a moderate growth rate. Its upright habit and narrow foliage make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or other diminutive shade perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Streaking Sandy' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage accordingly.
