Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Royal Flush' registered in 2004, 'Straight Flush' is a large cultivar distinguished by its upright habit and pointed, wavy leaves with golden yellow margins. The leaf blade reaches 26.7 cm (10.5 in) in length and 16.5 cm (6.5 in) in width, with a slightly puckered texture and green centers edged in golden yellow.

In the Garden

'Straight Flush' performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for gold-margined hostas, where the leaf coloration remains stable without scorching. At maturity, this cultivar forms a substantial clump approximately 60–75 cm (24–30 in) tall and 90–120 cm (36–48 in) wide. Its upright, pointed foliage pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials that contrast in texture.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad leaves are susceptible to damage.
