Overview

Registered in 1990 by H. & D. Benedict, *Hosta* 'Stirfry' is a medium-sized variegated cultivar derived from self-pollination of *Hosta* 'Holly's Honey'. Its distinctive foliage features dark green leaves with small undulating margins and a satiny sheen on the upper surface.

In the Garden

'Stirfry' forms a clump 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall, with leaves measuring 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, bearing eight vein pairs. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland garden settings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Stirfry' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
