Overview
Registered in 2014 by G. R. Goodwin, *Hosta* 'Springdale Pride' is a giant-sized variegated cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its bold, upright form and extremely glossy, nearly round leaves with medium green margins and a very shiny upper surface.
In the Garden
'Springdale Pride' reaches a mature spread of approximately 66 inches (168 cm) and a height of 24 inches (61 cm), with upright scapes rising 30 to 40 inches (76 to 102 cm). It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and its moderate growth rate suits it as a specimen or accent plant in larger borders and woodland gardens. The substantial leaf size and glossy texture make it a strong companion for ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most large-leaved hostas.
