Overview
Registered in 2011 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Voyager' by M. Zilis, 'Spaceship' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its deeply corrugated, dark green leaves with slightly rippled and serrated margins. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) wide, have a dull upper surface and a slightly shiny underside, with a cordate base and nine vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Spaceship' forms an upright clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact size makes it suitable for border fronts, rock gardens, or container plantings.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Spaceship' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
