Hosta ‘Soaring Eagle’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2002
Section classI-7

Overview

Registered in 2002, 'Soaring Eagle' is a giant hosta of unknown parentage, derived from a selfed seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict'. It is visually distinguished by its large, deeply corrugated, blue-green leaves with unstable streaking in shades of green, yellow, and cream, and by its gold margins that are slightly rippled.

In the Garden

'Soaring Eagle' reaches a mature size of 37 inches (94.0 cm) in height and 29 inches (73.7 cm) in diameter, with an upright, moderate growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its bold, heavy-textured foliage makes it a strong specimen plant for the back of a border or as a focal point in a woodland garden. Its substantial leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The heavy substance of the leaves offers some resistance to slugs, though standard slug control measures are still advisable in damp conditions.
