Overview

Registered in 2002 by Gotemba Nursery and P. Ruh, this miniature sport of an unnamed hosta produces a dense, slow-growing mound of deep green leaves edged with narrow, greenish white margins. Its small stature—reaching only 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height and 11 inches (27.9 cm) in diameter—and distinctively variegated, twisted foliage make it a true dwarf cultivar.

In the Garden

Best suited to partial to full shade, as typical for variegated hostas. At maturity, the plant forms a compact, mound-like clump approximately 11 inches (27.9 cm) across and 4 inches (10.2 cm) tall, with leaves 2.13 inches (5.4 cm) long and 0.88 inches (2.2 cm) wide. Its miniature size makes it an excellent choice for troughs, rock gardens, or the front of a shaded border, where it pairs well with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly and take protective measures if needed.
