Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Piedmont Gold', 'Sentimental Journey' was registered in 2004 and is classified as a giant cultivar. Its visual distinction lies in large, dull-surfaced, broadly ovate leaves that are light green with greenish-yellow, flat margins, creating a muted gold border effect.

In the Garden

'Sentimental Journey' reaches a mature spread of 42 inches (107 cm) and a height of 18 inches (46 cm), forming a dense, mound-like clump with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its substantial foliage provides strong textural contrast when paired with ferns, astilbes, or other shade perennials. The scapes rise 28 to 32 inches (71 to 81 cm) above the foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the large, tender leaves are susceptible to damage.
