Overview

Registered in 1998 by H. Sugita and P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Sasquatch' is a giant blue-green cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its very large, cordate leaves with slightly rippled margins, a dull upper surface, and a glaucous bloom on the underside.

In the Garden

'Sasquatch' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 30.5 inches (77.5 cm) and a height of 24 inches (61 cm), with upright foliage and a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its substantial size makes it unsuitable for containers.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Sasquatch' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
