H. ‘Sally Hoffman’

Overview

Registered in 2014, *Hosta* 'Sally Hoffman' is a small variegated cultivar derived from *Hosta* 'Pinstripe Sister' as the pod parent, with unknown pollen parentage. It is visually distinctive for its medium green, ovate leaves edged with pale yellow, slightly rippled margins, and its compact, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

Reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, this small hosta is well suited for the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs effectively with other small perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its modest size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, and protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
