Overview
Registered in 2005 as a sport of an unidentified parent, *Hosta* 'Roxsanne' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with gold margins. The ovate leaves, measuring 7.9 inches long and 5.9 inches wide, feature greenish yellow, slightly rippled margins and a slightly shiny, glaucous bloom on the undersides, with nine pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright clump reaching 19.5 inches in height and 23.5 inches in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is noted as sun resistant, making it suitable for brighter positions than many hostas, though it performs best in typical hosta-growing zones with partial shade. The light green to dark green scapes rise to 31.5 inches, bearing flowers typical of the genus. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its thicker leaves offer some resistance.
