Overview
Registered in 1999 by Rosedale Gardens, this large hosta cultivar is a selfed seedling of *H.* 'RD-BS-1'. Its most distinctive feature is the streaked variegation along the leaf margins, with foliage reaching 9 inches (22.9 cm) in length and 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) in width.
In the Garden
'Rosedale Mixmaster' performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated leaves develop the strongest contrast. At maturity, it forms a substantial clump suitable as a specimen or in the middle of a mixed border. It pairs well with ferns and other shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Astilbe*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
