Overview
Registered in 2005 by P. & J. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Rippled Honey' is a small-sized variegated cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its light green leaves with heavily rippled margins, a slightly shiny upper surface, and a very shiny underside, which together create a textured, dense mound.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a compact, upright mound reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 31 inches (78.7 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with other shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras. Its small size makes it appropriate for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
