Overview
Registered in 2001, *Hosta* 'Regal Glory' is a medium-sized seedling of *Hosta* 'Color Glory' distinguished by its blue-green leaves with white margins and a complex variegation pattern of medium green, dark green, greenish yellow, yellow, pale yellow, and creamy white streaks throughout the leaf blade. The nearly round, moderately cupped and corrugated leaves measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 5.75 inches (14.6 cm) wide, with 11 to 12 prominent pairs of veins on the underside and a glaucous bloom beneath.
In the Garden
'Regal Glory' forms an upright clump reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the variegation remains most stable, and is suitable for mixed borders, shade gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its medium size makes it appropriate for pairing with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials of similar stature.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Regal Glory' is susceptible to slug and deer damage and benefits from standard protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
