Section classIV-1

Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Stiletto', 'Plaschken' was registered in 2010 by an unknown originator. This small, fast-growing cultivar is distinguished by its lance-shaped leaves with medium to dark green, heavily rippled margins and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

'Plaschken' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) in diameter and 7.9 inches (20.1 cm) in height, making it suitable for edging or ground cover in partial to full shade. Its small stature and lightly wavy foliage pair well with other diminutive perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*, and it performs well in containers. The green scapes rise 11.8 to 13.8 inches (30.0 to 35.1 cm) above the foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Plaschken' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
