Overview

Registered in 2005 by D. Stone and introduced by P. & J. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Peking' is a small, mound-forming cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its ovate, cupped leaves with green centers and greenish-yellow flat margins, combined with an open, spreading habit and reverse cupping of the foliage.

In the Garden

With a mature diameter of 21.5 inches (54.6 cm) and height of 9 inches (22.9 cm), 'Peking' forms a low, slow-growing mound suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging in partial to full shade. Its small size and compact habit make it appropriate for container cultivation. Companion plants should be similarly scaled, such as small ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer exposures, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be monitored. Typical hosta-growing zones are suitable.
