Overview

Registered in 2002 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Paul's Glory', 'Orange Marmalade' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its yellow leaf centers and medium blue-green margins. Unlike its parent, which emerges with green centers, this cultivar produces yellow-centered leaves from the outset, with the yellow intensifying to a warm orange-gold tone as the season progresses.

In the Garden

'Orange Marmalade' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that complement its gold-and-blue foliage. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and employ control measures if needed.
