Overview
Registered in 2000 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, *Hosta* 'Oh by Gosh' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Francee' that produces medium-sized mounds of light green foliage with greenish-yellow margins. The leaves are slightly shiny on the upper surface and dull beneath, with slightly rippled margins and a flat base, creating a subtle two-toned effect.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a moderate-growing mound reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 37 inches (94.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees. The greenish-yellow margins provide contrast when paired with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
