Overview

Registered in 2013 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Francee', 'Oberland Colourful Noise' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its dark green leaves streaked with white and creamy white, flat margins. This streaked form of the classic 'Francee' produces a mound-like habit with ovate, lightly corrugated foliage that is dull on both surfaces.

In the Garden

This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and reaches a mature spread of approximately 31.5 inches (80 cm) with a height of about 19.75 inches (50 cm). Its moderate growth rate and compact mound shape make it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded rockeries. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or astilbes complement its variegated foliage without competing for light.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, especially in the first growing season, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
