Overview

Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'None Lovelier' originated from a cross between *H.* 'Neat Splash' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Maekawa' (pollen parent). This medium-sized cultivar is visually distinctive for its heavily rippled, dull blue-green leaves with wide, greenish-yellow margins, combined with purple scapes and pods.

In the Garden

'None Lovelier' forms a fast-growing, mound-like clump reaching 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 45 inches (114.3 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its blue-green foliage and gold margins hold color well. The substantial leaves and moderate corrugation make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds, pairing effectively with ferns or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. The heavy leaf substance offers some resistance to slugs, though standard slug control measures may still be warranted in damp conditions; deer may browse the foliage.
