Overview

Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Nancy' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its heavily rippled, golden yellow leaf margins, combined with very shiny, ovate green leaves that are deeply wavy, lightly cupped, and lightly twisted.

In the Garden

'Hosta' is suited to partial shade and typical hosta-growing conditions, forming a compact, mound-like clump 11 inches (27.9 cm) tall and 27 inches (68.6 cm) in diameter at maturity. Its small stature and moderate growth rate make it appropriate for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. Companion plants with contrasting foliage textures, such as ferns or heucheras, complement its wavy, glossy leaves.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The plant's very heavy leaf substance offers some resistance to slugs, though standard slug management practices are still advisable in damp conditions.
