Overview
Registered in 2002, *Hosta* 'My Cup of Tea' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a cross between *H. 'Sea Prize'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Maekawa'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its deep greenish-yellow leaf centers with creamy white, heavily rippled margins, combined with a glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides and a moderately cupped, lightly twisted form.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright mound reaching approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and its thick, leathery leaves provide good substance and durability. The blue-green and white variegation pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials; its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The heavy leaf substance offers some resistance to slugs, though standard slug control measures may still be needed in damp conditions.
