Overview

Registered in 2007 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Muppett' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its nearly round, heart-shaped leaves with green centers and greenish-yellow flat margins. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with 9 to 11 pairs of veins, and the plant produces light pink flowers on green scapes.

In the Garden

'Huppett' forms a dense, slow-growing mound reaching 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of shaded borders or rock gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small woodland perennials. Its compact size also makes it appropriate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary, as the foliage is susceptible to both pests.
