Overview
Registered in 2009 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Mouse Ears', 'Mouse Tracks' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with creamy yellow to creamy white margins and subtle streaking. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) long and 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) wide, have flat margins, a dull surface on both sides, and heavy substance, forming a compact mound 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall and 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
'Mouse Tracks' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and reaches a mature spread of about 6 inches (15.2 cm) with a moderate growth rate. Its diminutive size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs effectively with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. The cultivar is also an excellent candidate for container cultivation due to its compact habit.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Mouse Tracks' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
