Overview
Registered in 2013 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Mighty Mouse', 'Mouse Capades' is a miniature cultivar distinguished by its intensely twisted, heavily rippled, nearly round leaves. The leaf blade is medium blue-green with a creamy white margin 0.25 to 0.375 inches (0.6 to 1.0 cm) wide, and the leaf tip is characteristically twisted.
In the Garden
'Mouse Capades' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and is well suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for container culture, and it pairs effectively with other miniature perennials such as small ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Mouse Capades' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its thick, heavy leaves offer some resistance.
