Overview

Registered in 2010 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Kiwi Full Monty', 'Moulin Rouge' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by a three-part leaf pattern: a medium green center, a dark green inner margin, and a narrow white outer margin. The dark green and central green zones are separated by a variable white line, placing this plant within the *Hosta* 'Striptease' group.

In the Garden

'Moulin Rouge' forms a mound 12.4 inches (31.5 cm) high and 24.8 inches (63.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture due to its small stature. Companion plants with contrasting foliage, such as ferns or heucheras, complement its variegated leaves.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
