Overview
Registered in 2001, 'More Elegant' is a giant hosta cultivar selected from a form of *Hosta sieboldiana*. It is visually distinctive for its massive mound of heavily corrugated, broadly ovate blue-green leaves with slightly rippled margins, reaching nearly nine feet in diameter.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound 33 inches (83.8 cm) tall and 104 inches (264.2 cm) wide, with a moderate growth rate. It is best suited to partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage color is most pronounced. The substantial leaf size and corrugated texture make it an effective specimen or accent plant in large borders and woodland gardens; it is not suitable for containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitoring and protective measures may be necessary.
